Spiced Ginger Pear Sparkler
This cocktail is the perfect sweet treat to transition into the fall. I love the combination of pear and ginger, and the infusion of warm spices is much more delicate than a traditional pumpkin spice or apple pie vibe. It’s equally delicious as a mocktail or made alcoholic with bourbon or vodka. I promise you will be addicted to the spiced ginger syrup - you’ll want to add it to everything!
Ingredients
For spiced ginger syrup:
1 cup water
½ cup sugar
2 inches ginger, peeled and sliced
2 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp whole cloves
Pinch of grated nutmeg
For the cocktail:
1 ½ oz pear juice
1 tsp spiced ginger syrup
2 dashes angostura bitters
2 oz soda water or light ginger beer
To garnish: sliced pear, candied ginger, or cinnamon sticks
Optional: 1 ½ oz bourbon or vodka
Let’s Make It!
To make the syrup:
In a small sauce pot, combine all syrup ingredients. Stir gently, then bring up to a low boil over medium-high heat. Reduce to a low simmer and partially cover. Simmer for 10 minutes to allow flavors to infuse.
Take the syrup off the heat and allow it to cool completely at room temp. Once cooled and flavors are steeped into the syrup, strain into a small jar or container and refrigerate. This will keep for 2 weeks in the fridge.
For the cocktail:
Fill a short glass with ice. Add pear juice, bitters, syrup & (optional) bourbon. Stir to chill. Top with soda or ginger beer, gently stir.
Garnish with 1 thin slice of pear, thinly sliced candied ginger, or a cinnamon stick. Enjoy!
